I cannot find a wholesome Magical girl anime anymore that's just girls saving the world all of them are about girls killing each other with rainbows and the cute mascot character is Evil (not saying that there shouldn't be anime like this it just that there's too many that all have the same plot)

I can see the demographic trends

It's the same for the amounts of plotless isekais out there.

Luckily you can always watch old anime like Full Metal Panic! :)

I knew there was a reason I still watched the old stuff!

Like I just recently watched The Slayers, Sailor Moon, and I've recently started watching Gundam! (Just so I can see old-school Mecha for my novel). I may actually dust off my copy of Mekton Zeta...

Yeah, Capitalism I think has enshitified even Anime. Gotta turn a profit at any and all costs. Producers found something that worked great a decade ago and haven't let go yet. And perhaps this is why I'm writing my own anime novel. It's got some wholesome, emotional-building stuff in it without all the plotless fluff to turn a buck.

No! i'd say nanoha.

You're probably right about that. Although I do love Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha because it fuses the Magical Girl tropes with Science Fiction, it was the first dark Magical Girl series that pivoted from Magical Girls battling constructs and monsters to other Magical Girls. And it was pretty popular, I mean, it IS still airing....what, it's sixth or seventh season now? (I stopped watching after StrikerS, and now I only just re-watch seasons one and two).

I like nanoha too, but when i think about edgy magical girls i always think about nanoha first, talking about Force, it ruined the whole franchise for me, but anyway since it's airing a new season, i might go back to it again :P
