Are Anime Fans Too Harsh on New Series?

One thing I have noticed among Anime fans is they are nostalgic to classic Anime. Many new shows get labeled trash after the first episode. Do you think this kind of instant judgment is hurting experimentation? Do you always make a judgements based on the first episodes, or give the show a chance and do not make conclusion until you have watched a couple of episodes? Which series do you think proved early critics wrong Are hype and backlash getting out of control?

This is why we have ratings and reviews, AND professional review .
But to be fair, we have bajillions of shows ongoing, so it is not unfair to say that some animes should put strong hook in its beginning IF they wanna fans to keep on watching

I think the problem is that most anime fans now tend to be too quick to judge from the first episode which is too harsh in my opinion. Personally, I don't judge any anime based on the first episode but after watching the shows at least up to 3-5 episodes, if I'm not convinced, then I will call it.

I agree with that approach. First episodes are usually just setup anyway, so it’s hard to judge the story, pacing, or character development right away. Giving a show 3–5 episodes feels more fair before deciding whether it’s worth continuing.

Yeah! They know that just about everyone who's an anime fan would most definitely watch the first episode. So, they make it to be very good in order to capture their attention to keep watching.

I feel that with anime, once you are used to the types of series you have been watching and you are enjoying those series, even the slightest change can seem weird, and at first, you could sit and think that it is not good, or it is trash, without giving it a chance.

I do feel that those who do watch anime tend to be too quick to judge the new series, and instead of giving them a chance, they will label them as trash or not good.
