Friday the 13th was demonized by the Patriarchy in power during the middle-ages. You see, Friday, is actually Frigga's day. Like from Norse Mythology. Lady Frigga, the queen of the gods, wife to Odin is a very powerful goddess. The day is also associated with the planet Venus-- women, and love.
The number 13 was bastardized as unlucky because it's actually Nature's Number. This could date back all the way to the ancient Greeks. You see, the number 12 was considered perfection (which is why we have 12-hour clocks, and probably by extension 12-month calendars, thanks to the ancient Romans, but that's a whole different conversation...). 13 was also the number of women in a Coven, a pagan practice-- but even the Christian Church adopted the number 13. We had 12 Apostles, plus Jesus. That's 13 members. But also that number 12, has a link to Astrology too.... but I'm getting off topic here.
When you realize that men need to be in power, for the sake of the Patriarchy that we are forced to live under, women must be demonized, and brought to submission. Recognizing that the number 13 is powerful (it's also a Prime number). So to keep women suppressed, the number 13 was deemed as "unlucky". Now, also keep in mind that this could be a bunch of interlinked conspiracy theory, or just me talking out of my butt, but I believe there could be something here. But basically to summarize my thoughts, this all has to do with propagating Patriarchy.

During this era, feminist authors began looking backward through history and theorising that the Christian Church must have intentionally demonised the number 13 and Friday (Frigga's Day) specifically to stamp out matriarchal goddess worship.
Also, this also the first I heard of ancient pagan witches met in covens of 13 women. Instead I heard of a coven was made of 12 worshippers answering to a male leader dressed as the Horned God, meaning it was patriarchal to begin with.
