The Anime that Started Really Good, but Ended Up Shrouded in Disappointment

Your pick, your feels.

I've got alot. Now I am typing this here when I am still not yet too grounded and reconnected to anime and manga world just yet.

And so, I will mention some.

Samurai X/Rurouni Kenshin - classic terror guy can unleash rage when triggered

Bleach - I gave up reading when Yamamotto Genryusei was defeated by Ywach in one slice, and when Division 0 fell so easily, I mean, what the earth?

Fairy Tail - damn I really like the RPG-settings for this manga, but I somehow felt many of its characters, esp lead casts, lost their dynamics with very little development, towards the end, and so, I gave up reading right somewhere after the arc of Mystogan going back to his original world

Dragon Ball franchise - this a typo I should not mention this, move along

Slayers - I am trying to recall, but I cant remember, except that I was not satisfied because the series was too short

Naruto franchise - the original was full of lighthearted, but also tense, moments, but I lost interests after the 4th Ninja Great war started, but I couldn't just let it slide as it had been my whole teenhood, lol

One Piece - same, also typo, move along

Sword Art Online - felt the story lost its intensity after the first arc

The Seven Deadly Sins - later seasons have them poor animation quality and weaker storytelling.

Pokemon - typo, typo, typo

Slam Dunk - typo

Fate/Stay Night - Rushed final arc, makes the ending feel less impactful than it should have been

Maybe try some different genres?

From what little I know about these series you've listed, they all seem combat-heavy, combat oriented. Try something lighter. Romantic Comedy, Harem, maybe even a Gender-Bender-- straight up Comedy?
 
Yes I did some of those other genres. It was just what I could recall from an impromptu remembering.

But Sen, to answer your concern, I'd prefer anime with actions in it, brings the whole dynamics and emotive resonance together
 
The first ones that comes to mind are...

- Ergo Proxy: It was so good up until the last 4 episodes or so. The ending, for me, was a complete and total let down. Whenever I rewatch it, I skip the ending episodes now cuz it's just... not good imo.

- Log Horizon: season 1 was amazing. I don't even know what they were thinking for season 2. The whole season 2 is terrible

- Sword Art Online: Gods, I hate this one... This one was like... The first few episodes were so cool, and then it immediately took a nose dive, haha (for me). The whole franchise is just... bad... I used to keep watching them because the beginning is always /eyes/ and then it always takes a nose dive. I eventually learnt my lesson and stopped watching lol

There are definitely others but I can't think of them at the moment

No, I watched the whole thing. I've watched all the episodes of several other SAO series/seasons, too, as mentioned in my post. I'm saying it went south after a few episodes each time lol.
Unfortunately, once I start an anime, no matter how bad it is or how much I dislike it, I have to finish it. (Aside from Naruto. I got up to 300 episodes. As much as I loved it, I burnt out. 😂 )
 
Anime that start strong then flop can be very painful even more than heartbreak. “Tokyo Ghoul” still annoys me till today. Even “Seven Deadly Sins” later seasons was the same as well. Honestly I’d rather have a short clean story than the long dragged nonsense. I prefer quality over hype any day.
 
The Promised Neverland would be by pick without thinking too much about it. The hype of the first season was so unreal especially with how it started with tense plot but everything fell short in the second season.
