Many people would agree that there isn't one controversial anime. People could randomly think about a specific anime character that might be controversial. I just search for it online and found "school days" to be quite controversial. What do you think?

I think it depends where you're living.
I believe that I read some time ago that My Hero Academy (I think is the name) is actually quite offensive to the Japanese, because of something that happened during World War 2. Unfortunately, I can't remember what the incident was (it was a huge deal, lots of trauma), but this could be considered quite controversial, in the fact that the creator of the series completely disregarded the feelings of his national-kin in the prospect to make money.

For me, it's going to be either between Redo of Healer or Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation. Both anime was absolutely controversial in ways that I can't find works to put them. In Redo of Healer, it was full of rape and torture that was too much for most people to bear.
