Would you rather have a low-paying job you love or a high-paying job you hate?

Money matters a lot, no doubt, but waking up angry every morning is something else. I’ve done a job I hated before, the pay was decent but my mood was always bad. People say endure for the money, but how long can you do that? Loving what you do is the best because it saves your mental health.

For me Mental Health always comes first, no matter how great the pay is. If that place is negative or toxic as F I wouldjust quit. I did do it once to save my sanity, took a lower paying job and climb the ladder up again took a set back in my financials but my concious was much clear after this. Sometimes that reset helps have a clearer goal on what you don't want in your life and becomes a very valuable life lesson.

It is very rare to get a high paying job that you love. This is why many people have to go through this phase where they just have to endure a "job" that pays them high. The fact of the matter remains that I would choose a low laying career, even if I do not get paid much. I do not want to suffer from mental illnesses.

very true @Nous Health, physical and mental, must be prioritised before all else. I know, because I am suffering from both...

I've had a job where my mental health suffered. The job wasn't too bad. The customers were mostly friendly. The problems weren't all that challenging (software technical support), but what killed the job was the toxic boss. He was the owner's son, who had come from Sales, so he didn't really know Support work, never was "in the trenches". Yet he demanded quotas and numbers. Despite working on highly complex problems with lots of communication between the customers and development staff. I ended up on his crap list. Eventually getting laid off from a job that "I was too good to lose" when I wanted to transfer to other departments but was denied, was one of the best feelings I had.

I'm currently working in a warehouse now and my physical body is taking a beating. The job is super easy, most of the customers are nice (it's a members only store with strict membership requirements), but standing all day is taking its toll (I won't even get into what I have to do to cope). And yet again, most of the problems stem from poor management (and poor financial compensation), which is why "nobody wants to work anymore".

I've never made more than $42,000 a year throughout my entire life. And I'll tell you that seeing some jobs offering $45,000 and up seems to be a complete fantasy for me right now, but at the same time, trying to get your foot into the door just to get a high paying job seems all but impossible too. You literally have to know somebody who has the authority to do the hiring, AND somehow do cartwheels through the AI filtering systems to get your resume in front of human eyeballs.

My dream "job" right now is something involving creative writing. Unfortunately, it seems that most people don't care about what I want to create. LOL 😅

The highest monthly salary I ever got was 300USD
I am also pursuing creative writing, in the veins of Game Dev.
Don't give up, don't give in, someday, it will all fill in

This, right here, proves just how privileged us Americans are and the fact that our cost of living is much too high and unsustainable.

I seriously hope so! I am one determined human being though.
